Thomas makes everything better

My son has become obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine. This train-love is all new to me since our May had absolutely no interest in Thomas as a toddler. I try to believe that boys and girls can enjoy the same activities. I try not to sway my girl child towards dolls and pink and I try to encourage my boy child to explore a world other than trains and trucks. It's almost instinctual in some regards. The 1st time he saw a train set, Ben was absolutely captivated. Why?? I have no clue. What is it about trains and trucks that is so appealing. I guess they're both very large and noisy - something my son strives for everyday. Right now the kids are watching a Thomas video. It allows me to type a short blog entry.

I heard complaints in the next room. My break-time is over.

Frozen Pizza Friday

Our Friday night tradition is to eat pizza. We often get some pizza from this great place downtown (Antonio's II) but tonight we're doing the cheap version of our tradition. Actally the pizza is more enjoyable than you would think. It makes me think back to my childhood. My parents would often get frozen pizza for my brothers and me to eat when a babysitter would be over for the evening. It was always a special treat for us. I still think of it as a special treat.

Ben went to music class at the library today. He absolutely loves it although he's not ready to do any solo work yet. He's still a bit intimidated. He's excellent at the jumping and dancing with scarves routine. The instructor says he might be ready to compete in next years' "Scarves with Raffi" competition.

After music, Ben and I picked up with sister and made yet ANOTHER trip to the doctor!! She has a terrible cough and I was concerned it would turn into the coughing-induced asthma thing that sent us to the ER last Spring. Luckily she only has broncitis and an ear infection. Luck us. As a reward for the trip to the doctor, we visited McDonald's for lunch. I'll admit it, I allow my kids to eat McDonalds. I may be a terrible mom for feeding them the salty garbage but it maintains some sanity in my life. If there was a fast food place out there that was convenient and served healthy food for cheap, I'd go. At this point, no such thing exists.
